Our counselling approach
Rachel Friebel leads River Counselling. Rachel is a qualified counsellor and holds broad experience working with many individuals, couples and workplace teams.
Rachel’s counselling approach stems from a belief that all individuals possess their own strengths and expertise. Rachel meets and works with people to identify how counselling can be helpful for them and what they desire from the process. She is guided by the expertise of people about their own unique experience and provides a warm, supportive counselling environment. She builds on the unique strengths of every person and works in a trauma-informed manner.
Rachel works in an integrative manner: she draws on a number of evidence based models to tailor an approach for each individual person or couple. The theories and approaches that Rachel draws from include: Attachment theory, Narrative practices, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), the Gottman method, systems theory and psychoneurological approaches.
